There’s a lot going on tonight. Whether it’s Manhattan or Brooklyn, early or late, there’s something worthwhile to check out.
How about an early show? Over at The Rockwood Music Hall Stage 2 at 7pm, you’ll find Aly Tadros. Aly plays Americana, folk rock and folk, and blends them together with classical music as well. Aly is originally from Texas, and spent some time in Austin before deciding to move here and make New York City her home. Although her mother was from Texas, her dad was from Egypt, which adds some Middle Eastern influences to her music as well.
Then at 9pm, we have three dueling residencies. Teddy Thompson is playing his second Wednesday show, this one solo, at The Rockwood Music Hall. Teddy plays NYC often, but usually as a part of the early rock and rockabilly trio Poundcake and lately, a series of shows with the rest of the Thompson family. But tonight, Teddy brings his music front and center. You’ll hear some old favorites and some new material as well.
Meanwhile, over in Williamsburg, Milton completes a four week residency at The Living Room. The music of Milton (the name of the band as well as its leader) is a combination of Americana, country, and folk-rock. During the years, Milton has played a four week residency at The Living Room every February.
Skinny Dennis is just down the block from The Living Room. There you’ll find North of Amarillo, a band with Now I’ve Heard Everything favorite Kelli Scarr on lead vocals. Inspired by the music of Emmylou Harris, North of Amarillo pays tribute to her classic songs and arrangements along with a mix of originals and other country favorites. The band will play several sets from 9pm going until midnight.
Finally, at 11pm, you can celebrate the music of George Harrison at the 5th Annual George Harrison Birthday Celebration which is being held at Rockwood Stage 2. The band tonight will consist of Adam Minkoff, Nick Oddy, Scott Chasolen, Jordan Scannella, Rich Pagano, Dan Brantigan and Michael Eaton.
